Koshas and the Science of Yoga Nidra

October 23, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

$29.00

The concept of the Koshas and the practice of Yoga Nidra are both deeply rooted in yogic philosophy, particularly as described in ancient Indian texts like the Upanishads. They also share a scientific correlation between their approach and positive effects on our physiological and psychological well-being.

The word “Kosha” means “sheath” in Sanskrit and the concept refers to the five “sheaths” of our human existence – physical, energetic, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual – that “cover” the true self (Atman). “Yoga Nidra” refers to “yogic sleep” which is a guided meditation practice that systematically opens our awareness to each Kosha helping us “uncover” our true self while also promoting a state of conscious deep relaxation that has profound effects on our body and brain. Yoga Nidra’s ability to affect brainwave activity, enhance neuroplasticity, improve emotional regulation, and boost overall well-being makes it a valuable practice in yoga and yoga therapy.

Join LaMor Clements Carino for this webinar to learn the relationship between the 5 Koshas and Yoga Nidra, the science behind each, how the 5 Koshas form the foundation of Yoga Nidra, and the neuroscience behind Yoga Nidra. After we learn about the Koshas and Yoga Nidra, we will learn about ourselves through the practice of a 20-minute Yoga Nidra journey through all 5 Koshas.
