Biography
Traci M. Smith, DPT, MSPT, MAEd, MTC, TPS, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, YACEP
Traci Smith is a graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham, holding a clinical doctorate in physical therapy as well as a master’s degree in education with a specialization in Exercise Physiology. She holds specialty certifications from Purdue University in Therapeutic Pain Neuroscience and Lifestyle Medicine. Traci also holds certifications in functional dry needling, manual therapy, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and cupping, pelvic floor rehabilitation, as well as Pilates, yoga, T’ai Chi, dance, cycling, aquatics, and strength training.
Traci’s physical therapy practice spans the Greater Birmingham area, serving clients recovering from persistent musculoskeletal pain, neurologic disease, post-operative dysfunction and pain, pelvic dysfunction, as well as general deconditioning and dysfunctional movement patterns. Traci is the creator and coordinator of her clinic’s Lifestyle Medicine based rehabilitation programming emphasizing progression from aquatic to land based interventions. Traci utilizes both yoga and Pilates based interventions in clinical care and provides additional progressive interventions within Pilates/Yoga studio settings in the Greater Birmingham area.
Traci is a yoga therapist and is certified through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She serves as an educator in YogaFit’s 200- hour and 500- hour teacher training programs and YogaFit’s IAYT-certified Yoga Therapy Program. Her teaching background includes the disciplines of physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, pain science, and yoga philosophy.
